Public cells can be created using one of the following "Section" options:
Define Name
Create from Selection
Name Manger
"Create from Selection" option is the easiest way to create the public cells as it lets you create the public cells all at once. The other options can be used to update the public cell names. Alternatively, the namebox can also be used to update the public cell name.
How to create public cells using "Create from Selection" option?
Open CustomerOrders data model.
Create a display label cell for max item price Select the newly created label cell for max item price and the cell below as shown in the screen capture.
Click on the "Create from selection" icon.
"Create Names from Selection" dialog box will be displayed. Select the "Top Row" check box and click on the "OK" button.
Other options -- left, bottom, right -- can also be used.
How to create public cells using "Define Name" option?
Select the cell (B4) to be defined as a public cell.
Click on the "Define Name" icon.
"New Name" dialog box will be displayed. Enter the name of your choice for the public cell "Max item price" and click on the "OK" button.
Special characters are not allowed.
Spaces, if any, will be replaced with underscore.
Create a display label cell for the max item price public cell by entering the display cell name "Max Item Price" in cell B3.
How to create / edit / delete public cells using "Name Manager" option?
Click on the "Name Manager" icon.
"Name Manager" dialog box will be displayed.
Click on the "New" button. "New Name" dialog box will be displayed. Enter the name and the cell it must refer to. Click on the "OK" button to add the new public cell.
If you want to edit the name of an existing public cell, select the public cell as highlighted in the screen capture.
Click on the "Edit" button.
"Edit Name" dialog box will be displayed. Update the name and click on the "OK" button to confirm.
You can also delete a public cell by clicking the "Delete" button.
