Understanding System Requirements
Many a time, while trying to learn
new software, we spend considerable time learning about the features before we
actually try to use them. And when we do, we run into some installation or
environment issues that either delays or prevents our progress in learning the
software. So, before we get started with learning OrangeScape, let’s understand
the system requirements and the OrangeScape development environment.
||What are the system requirements?
- Firefox (Version 3.5.5 & above) or Chrome browser to access OrangeScape Studio - The development environment.
- Microsoft Silverlight (Version 4.0 & above) for local storage.
||What else do I need?
- An account on OrangeScape Trial Studio
to build applications.
- An account on Google App Engine (GAE) to
run your applications.
What is OrangeScape Trial Studio?
OrangeScape Trial Studio is the modeling environment where you can build applications using a familiar spreadsheet like interface. The applications built using Studio can be deployed on Google App Engine with the click of a button.
What is Google App Engine?
Google App Engine lets you build, run and maintain your web applications on Google's infrastructure with no servers to maintain. It allows you to run a maximum of ten applications.
At this point, you have completed the necessary set-up for OrangeScape by downloading Firefox and Silverlight. You are now ready to launch OrangeScape Trial Studio. But first, we should create accounts on OrangeScape Trial Studio and Google App Engine.
